Orbital Magnetism in the Ballistic Regime: Geometrical Effects
We present a general semiclassical theory of the orbital magnetic response of noninteracting electrons confined in two-dimensional potentials. We calculate the magnetic susceptibility of singly-connected and the persistent currents of multiply–connected geometries. We concentrate on the geometric effects by studying confinement by perfect (disorder free) potentials stressing the importance of t...
متن کاملEffects of a magnetic field on the spin-orbital model
We study the effects of a uniform magnetic field on the one dimensional spinorbital model in terms of effective field theories. Two regions are examined: one around the SU(4) point (J=K/4) and the other with K ≪ J [see Eq. (1)]. We found that when J ≤ K/4, the spin and orbital correlation functions exhibit power-law decay with non-universal exponents. In the region with J > K/4, the excitation ...

Sixty-six consecutive cases undergoing enucleation with the insertion of the Roper-Hall magnetic implant at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital (BMEH) were followed up to re-establish the rate of extrusion. It was possible to study the records of all 66 patients. An extrusion rate of 1.5% was found.
متن کاملMagnetic orbital implant.
THIs implant was developed with the object ofincreasing the degree ofmovement obtained with the Allen type ofburied orbital implant. The satisfactory way in which these implants are retained in the orbit is demonstrated by the large number which have now more than fulfilled the 2-year follow-up period suggested by Choyce (1952). The retention of the magnetic form of implant appears to be as goo...
